Immigrant Study

Time has an article about a recent study conducted in Ohio that aimed to gauge public perceptions of four immigrant populations: Europeans, Asians, Middle Easterners and Latinos.

The idea behind the study was that since Ohio’s population is overwhelmingly White, with only a tiny immigrant population, researchers would get an idea of how news reporting affects attitudes towards immigrants. You can read about the results in the article here.

To sum up the results, Latinos are not held in very high regard amongst the people of Ohio and cultural stereotypes about the various groups persist.
