The Cubs won yet again yesterday, behind a solid pitching performance by rookie Kevin Hart. Then they traded Hart to the Pirates, along with two other players, in exchange for John Grabow and Tom Gorzelanny.
I like the move. It is a nice little trade that gives the Cubs two lefties, one of whom (Grabow) can make an immediate impact in the bullpen. Gorzellany is young, has previous success at the major league level, and has the potential to be a No.3 starter down the line. Gotta feel bad for Hart, though. He goes from a first-place team to a last-place team that has completely decimated its roster in an attempt to rebuild. Problem is the Pirates have been “rebuilding” for more than fifteen years. Good luck to you, Kevin.
The trade deadline is today at 4ET and we will just have to wait and see if the Cubs pick up a bat.
