The Sun-Times is reporting that the sale of the Cubs to the Ricketts family finally went through over the weekend.
Hopefully the sale will be approved quickly so Cubs GM Jim Hendry can open up the checkbook and ink a new bat. He should try to trade Soriano, too. He could offer him up for a package of prospects to a contending team in the AL, while offering to pay some of his remaining salary to sweeten the deal. We could then put Jake Fox in left (he is a hitting machine and probably no worse than Soriano in the field), and bat Theriot or Fukodome lead-off and actually get guys on base ahead of Lee, Ramirez and Fox. Best of all, there would be no more Soriano!
